Organised with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, this international symposium examined the Second Constitutional Era from many different perspectives. Held in Istanbul on October 22–24, 2008, the event featured 50 scholars from 9 countries, who presented papers on politics, law, society, economy, culture, art, education, language, literature and secularisation. This book aims to shed light on Turkish modernisation by compiling the symposium papers.
